What is ResearchLink?

ResearchLink is a research-focused social platform where you can:

  • Share and discover research papers and notes
  • Follow researchers and join communities
  • Post updates, polls, and discussions
  • Optional: send and read emails via Gmail from within the app (Gmail Chat feature)

Why does ResearchLink request Gmail access?

If you enable the optional Gmail integration, ResearchLink uses Google's Gmail API only to provide the following features:

  • gmail.send — To send emails on your behalf when you compose a message in the in-app Gmail Chat. Your draft is sent through Google's servers; we do not store the content of sent emails on our servers.
  • gmail.readonly (or read scope) — To display your recent threads and messages in the in-app Gmail Chat so you can view and reply without leaving ResearchLink.

We follow the principle of least privilege: only the scopes necessary for these features are requested. Email content is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.

ResearchLink uses Google's Gmail API and complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
